The medium-sized government appears to have no policy direction whatsoever. The average income tax rate is 18%, but much higher for the wealthy. A very small private sector is dominated by the Gambling industry.
Crime is relatively low, despite the fact that it is difficult to make it through a day without breaking one of the country's many laws. Despair Aponia's national animal is the rat and its currency is the hook.
